(Bob) My current project . . . .

I got an order for two of these signs yesterday.  Just thought I'd post a pic of one of them. --Bob

(Bob) A sign for a Wine Cellar or Bar . . .

I made this sign the other day thinking that maybe it would go good in a Wine Room, Wine Cellar or a bar.  The grape plaque is a dimensional that stands out from the sign about 3/4".  It was the lid to a box I had made that I thought would work better on a sign than on a box. I distressed the sign, although my wife doesn't care for it.  I like it though, but may make the next sign without distressing just to see if it works.  --Bob

:(Bob) The finished sign . . .

I made a few adjustments to the sign I showed in my last post, and distressed it.  Here is a photo of the finished sign as I decided to list it in Etsy.  It is a primitive looking sign, but not in the "prim" style that is very popular today.  It is my own style of primitive. --Bob

(Bob) I made this sign this evening . . .

I thought I'd try something a little different with this sign.  Different for me, that is. I haven't distressed it yet but hope to sometime tomorrow as it is now after midnight, and I don't feel like working anymore this evening. I had a nice talk with my daughter today about creativity and she made me realize that the important thing is to have fun expressing yourself creatively.  I tend to focus too much on creating things to sell, instead of just creating what my heart feels like making.  I made this sign the way I felt like it not giving much thought as to whether it will sell or not.  I just had fun with it.  If no one buys it, I'm ok with that. --Bob

(Bob) Finishing up the second "Quilting" sign . . .

Here are the stages I went through to finish up the "Quilting" sign.  Above pic shows me starting the lettering and the lower one shows the lettering all finished.  I don't make absolutely perfect lettering as I think the freestyle lettering gives a more homey look.  All that I do to finish the sign is to distress it and install the hanging hooks on it. --Bob

(Bob) Work on the "Quilting" sign moves forward . . .

I give just one coat of black paint to the signs I make.  That is usually sufficient, because I distress them later in the process and it makes aging alot easier.  It may seem like I just sit down and start painting the sign, but actually I plan out the lettering on a piece of tracing paper before I start painting.  The plan isn't meant to be an exact design, but just a rough guideline for the types of letters I will paint and their spacing.  I often don't paint the letters exactly the way I drew them as I like to kind of create as I go along. Below is the rough guide I drew out for the "Quilting" sign. --Bob

(Bob) First step in making another "Quilting" sign . . .

I decided to make another "Quilting" sign, because I sold the only one I had.  The first step I take is to glue two narrow boards together and put them in clamps to dry. The reason I am showing a little of what I do to make a sign is my daughter says it may be interesting for blog readers to see what I do to make my creations. She might be telling me that our blog is a little boring maybe?  I don't want to do a how to on making signs, but just show some of the steps I go through to create something. I hope this will be of interest to people. --Bob

(Bob) Another sign for sewists and quilters . . .

I made this sign this morning and plan to offer it for sale in our Etsy Shop sometime today or tomorrow.  I made it at the request of my daughter, who gives me alot of inspiration.  I think a sewer or a quilter might like to hang this sign on their sewing room wall.  I distressed it to give it an aged appearance because my daughter likes the signs done that way, and I like them that way myself. --Bob

(Bob) Two new signs for Sewers and Quilters . . .

I made the Quilting sign shown above at the request of my daughter, who has a Long Arm Quilting business.  I wasn't too sure if it a Quilter would want a sign like that, but it seems to be getting alot of people looking at it in our Etsy Shop.  The Fabric by the Yard sign was meant to be like a sign in an old fashioned fabric shop or general store. It would look good by itself in a Sewing or Quilting room either by itself or in a collage of signs.  The price of each sign is $14 plus shipping and you can buy them in our Etsy Shop.

(Bob) A "Sewing Room" Sign . . .

Here's a photo of the "Sewing Room" sign I mentioned in my last post. I made this yesterday at the request of my daughter, who is an avid Quilter. I almost didn't list it in our Etsy Shop because my wife (Diana) wanted it to put on the door of her sewing room. I promised I would make her one and that will probably be my next project.  The needle and thread design around the outside border was Diana's idea and I thought it added a little something to the sign. I don't know if people will notice it right away, though. -- Bob

(Bob) An "Apple" Themed Sign . . .

I made this sign yesterday, and decided to post it for sale in our Etsy Shop.  I was kind of going for the look of an old Apple Crate end. I am talking about the end panel of a crate they used to put apples in to take to the produce market.  They used to put the word "Apples" on the crate with a picture of apples to accent the word. That is what inspired me to do this sign.  Anyways, I think it would look nice in a Country kitchen or even a Traditional kitchen for that matter. Today, I finished making a sign that says "Sewing Room". I haven't had a chance to photograph it yet, so I probably won't post a pic of it here until tomorrow. --Bob

(Diana) More Fabric Sewing Baskets . . .

I made these four fabric storage baskets a while ago and thought I would post them in our Etsy Shop.  Bob doesn't care for the fabric I used, but I do.  I made them out of canvas so they would be durable.  You can use them to store odds and ends that you use frequently, like cotton balls or pencils or make up supplies.  They are of a size that fits nicely on a dresser or on the bathroom vanity. If you aren interested in them, go take a look at the listing in our Etsy Shop (just click on the link at right hand side of this page). --Diana

(Bob) My First Country Signs Made to Sell . . .

I made these signs yesterday and today as an experiment.  I have never made signs to sell before seriously.  Oh, I made one or two now and then for my own amusement or as a gift, but never to sell.  I am going to take these to a craft show with some others I make and see how they go.  I don't know if I will list them in our Etsy Shop.  I haven't decided yet. --Bob

(Bob) I made this about a month ago . . .

I made this coaster set about a month ago and have finally posted a picture of it.  I got the idea from a magazine and thought I would give it a try.  I made the coasters out of 1/4" MDF and the storage holder out of 3/8" and 1/4" MDF.  I painted the whole thing with a green on black stippled affect and then painted a different fruit on each of the coaster tiles.  I enjoyed making it, but it was alot of work.  I listed it in our Etsy Shop for sale, but haven't had alot of lookers at it.  My daughter says that coaster sets aren't a hot item.  I don't know.  If it doesn't sell I can give it as a Christmas gift. --Bob
