A Knotmaker's Table

I made this table in about an hour and it took a full day to finish. There are about 8 steps to getting the finish to look this way. I was trying an experiment in making new stuff look old, and kind of had to make up the process as I went along. I took the table up to the Co op this morning and put it out for sale. It was originally called a Lacemaker's Table, but I don't like that name much and have decided to call it a Knotmaker's Table.

Dad - looks really nice! I like it very much! May I ask, what is a lace - or - knotmaker's table specifically used for? It's beautiful no matter what it's intended purpose! :)

Dad - I just saw your new "about me" section - that was very sweet of you!!! Thank you for saying such nice things! :) I love that you blog now, and that I can see your woodwork this way. :) Isn't blogging fun? :)

Also-I can make the slideshow larger for you if you'd like, I forgot to mention that when I emailed you. Let me know and I can give you a new code. :)

knotmaker is much better than lace maker. Lace maker is to feminine for the rugged look of this table. I LOVEEE when items are made to look antiquarian, and you did a good job here.
